No Gas Shortage Here
By 250 News
While Ontario and now parts of Quebec, scramble for fuel, there shouldn’t be any impact felt in northern B.C.
Greg Calpas is the Manager of the Husky refinery in Prince George, “Our refinery produces about one third of the fuel needs for B.C. and while we may be called upon to shuffle supplies among our Husky sites, I can’t see there being any shortage developing like they are experiencing back east”
Calpas says the balance of B.C.’s fuel needs come from refineries in Alberta, and a shortage here would only happen if those refineries had supply issues.
The fuel problems in Ontario started with the shut down of one oil refinery following a fire, then the situation was compounded by the CN strike. Many gas stations have run out of fuel and consumers started hoarding gasoline, prompting rationing in some areas.
