School District 57 Trustee  Bill Christie has put forth a motion  supporting the idea of the construction of a Performing Arts Centre for Prince George.  Christie had visited the Bell Centre which is attached to a high school in Surrey.  The motion was then altered to call on the Board to write a letter to Initiatives Prince George  supporting the idea of a performing arts centre.

Trustee Michelle Marrelli  suggested it might be a wonderful partnership to see a performing arts centre attached to a  School District property.

Initiatives Prince George was behind an information gathering session last week, and it was clear the public likes the idea of performing arts centre, but not just as a downtown revitalization project.

(see previous story.)

Christie had initially suggested the old KGV be developed into a performing arts centre attached to a new Duchess Park school.  That is no longer possible as KGV has been  demolished, but the design for Duchess Park has not yet been completed.

It would be a positive move for Duches Park to build a small black box theatre for education purposes, but under no circumstances should it be INSTEAD of a downtown Centre for the Arts.
Yes wasn't the point brought up before how the Vanier Hall arrangement didn't work in favor of the performance groups but rather worked out good only for the school. Maybe a joint use facility would work out good if the school took secondary usage ?
Build a black box. Then, when they need to use a bigger stage, they can use the downtown CFTA. Heck, it's close enough to walk to.
What is this CFTA chit??? ... we need a PAC not a CFTA!!!!!

This thing is falling off the rails already when key proponents of the PAC are turncoats!!!!
