Prince George is not only hosting the best National Junior A hockey teams in Canada. But the May 5-13th RBC Royal Bank Cup at CN Centre will also welcome peewee hockey players from throughout BC to show off their skills. The 2007 Tobacco Free Sports Provincial Hockey Showcase will feature pee wee hockey players, age 11 and 12 years old, from across the province in skills competitions, that begin this week until the end of March. Skills testing will be held during practices with the winning players selected through Hockey Canada to compete in Prince George during the RBC Royal Bank Cup.
“This program is a great way to challenge and showcase the skills of our developing athletes alongside those vying for the National Junior A Championship,” said BC Hockey president Al Berg. “We are thankful to all for this opportunity.”
“ActNow BC and the health authorities are proud to support this event, which works towards our ActNow BC goals of reducing tobacco use and increasing physical activity levels among British Columbians,” said Gordon Hogg, Minister of State for ActNow BC.
Tobacco Free Sports supports programs and initiatives to reduce tobacco use and exposure to second-hand smoke across the province.
