Bogus Bills Floated in Town
By 250 News
Prince George RCMP have a 30 year old male from the lower mainland in custody after fake $20 bills surfaced in the city.
Constable Gary Godwin says the man was arrested at the Prince George Airport around 5:00 this morning after a ticket was paid for with fake 20's. At the time of arrest, police seized another $500 dollars in bogus bills.
Godwin says police are not certain how long their suspect had been in town, but he did take cabs everywhere or walked. The Police are asking the public to take a good look at any 20 dollar bills in their posession. "It is a better quality fake" says Godwin, "But you should give the bill the touch, tilt and look through test."
Godwin says the "weight" of the fake bill is not as heavy as a real $20. If you flip the bill, you will notice it is greener on the back than on the front and if you "tilt" the bill, the little iridescent box in the left corner doesn't change colour. He also says there aren't as many planchettes on the fake (the little green dots) and you can't see through them.
Godwin says anyone who beleives they have a fake $20 should write down some notes on where and when they got the bill, and if possible give a brief description of the person who gave them the bill. People can either turn the fakes over to the front counter of the Prince George Detachement, or call police and they will come and get them.

There are so many more scams surfacing in this day and age, but counterfeit money appears to be a sure fire way to rip off. Scanners and printers seem to add to this problem.
I find it hard to believe the attempts made on the computer-and wonder at times if the "good old days" did not offer a safer life style.
Kind of comforting to sit back on occasion and think, "I remember when."
Did we actually have fewer problems, or am I just reluctant to accept all the changes which seem to make life difficult?
