New Media Forum Set for CNC
By 250 News
The internet has changed the way people get news. No longer are they limited to the likes of what the mainstream publishers or mainstream broadcast outlets think they want to know. The internet has allowed people to seek out the kind of information they want, when they want.
New media journalism is the focus of a public forum set for CNC Tuesday night at 7:00. Along with Opinion 250’s Ben Meisner and Elaine Macdonald, the evening will also feature David Beers, the editor of The Tyee, a web journal based in Vancouver. CNC’s Dean of University Arts and Sciences, Don Precosky, says “In a few short years, the web has changed journalism and communications forever, allowing an unprecedented expression of opinion and interactivity as well as new career opportunities.” The forum is being held in room 1-306 on Tuesday March 6th at the Prince George Campus of CNC.

The internet has its problems also because anyone who posts on it can be a small version of a special interest group and can say things that are slanted or untrue.
Overall though, the internet has a lot more positives than negatives, and takes power out of the hands of the big special interest groups and puts it back in the hands of the people, which is always a good thing.
I think Ben Meisner's radio show on CKPG got cancelled because on it he was ruffling the feathers of some of these special interest groups.
I am glad to see that he started up opinion250.com because there a lot of knowledgeable posters on it and I have learned a tremendous amount about our city and province on it, and Ben can now go back to ruffling the feathers of the special interest groups.
