Prince George M-P D ick Harris says his office has received numerous calls from constituents asking for some action to reduce the price at the pumps.

"I can say every  member of my party has  petitioned the Minister of Finance to reduce the taxes on gasoline prices.  It has been part of our party's platform for the past five years to  dump the tax on tax"  Harris is refering to the GST being added to the price of a litre of gas, on top of the provincial and exise taxes. "The Federal government makes hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars when the price goes up at the pump" says Harris, " and they aren't doing anything  to give the average Canadian a break".

He suspects the Federal Government  just wants to make sure it has lots of cash in the  coffers so that just before an election is called, there will be lots of handouts .
