With the departure of Max Blaux and his contacts, I won't be surprised that UNBC loses a big chunk of its current research funding in the coming years and UNBC is partly to blame for damaging the chances of its faculty to get grants.

UNBC administration is its own worst enemy. Last year, the administration canceled the contracts of 2 UNBC professors who had prestigious NSERC research grants from Canadian government, and their Nserc grant is gone. Nserc is very competitive to win and for a professor, the chances of getting NSERC is less than 30% and for a teaching university such as UNBC may be less than 10%. What NSERC will think of UNBC? "We give research grants to your professors and you terminate them and cancel the grants. Heck of a job!" These are symptoms that something is wrong in UNBC.
