The BC Lung Association  has received  $30,000 for  projects  focusing on air quality.
The money from the Province will go  towards air quality and health-related initiatives such as the 2008 Air Quality/ Health Workshop and the  2008 State of the Air Report.

"Air quality is becoming more and more important to British Columbians and we have an obligation to keep the public informed," said Scott McDonald, executive director of the BC Lung Association. "By providing trusted information that clearly exposes the risks to health created by air pollution, we hope to encourage communities, government agencies and individuals alike to strengthen their commitment to improving air quality."

The 2008 workshop will be the fifth of its kind and will provide air quality and public health professionals with the results of current research studies and their application to air quality management and protecting public health.

The State of the Air Report provides the public with a snapshot of current air quality across the province, the pollutants of greatest concern from the human health perspective, and the various actions underway to address these issues.

Seeing as how we have had the crappiest air in the province during the last two years we should get most of the funds earmarked to compensate us for our plight. If not, maybe we can use a bit of reasoning from Quebec for getting the most of any money. And I guess that would be to whine unmercifully.
