The lawyer who represented one of the family members of Kevin St Arnaud says he doesn’t have much confidence in a proposal put forward by the RCMP that a pilot project will be launched between the RCMP and the Commission for public complaints against the RCMP.
The new project will be called the Independent Observer pilot project.
Cameron Ward says, the Public Complaints Commission had an observer on hand throughout the Coroners inquest held in Vanderhoof into the death of St Arnaud, "And to this date they have not either contacted me or made any public declarations about the death."
Ward says "I hope that I can be proven wrong but I see no reason to believe that any new observers will do anything to improve the method in which these matters are handled by police.”

Although there  was conflicting  testimony at the Coroner's inquest into St. Arnaud's death, the RCMP have  announced that no new information has come forward that would warrant further investigation of that shooting.

Who's going to want to even live in British Columbia within the next 10 yrs. unless they get serious and listen to our concerns. I'm sure hoping this project is a step towards improvement but really they keep ignoring the real problem.....blood from bullets, heart failure after being tasered, kicked and beaten into unconsciousness or death and leaving Ryan Snopek in a jail cell to die....he clearly needed medical attention. Death is serious and final and we keep putting our blinders on just because the law enforcement was involved.
I had my doubts, now mr ward has affirmed them.
It's probably really easy to use the project but probably even easier to abuse it. I guess it depends on which men/women get their hands on it.
Who is/was Ryan Snopek?
I sincerely hope that the proposal bears fruit, and we end up with a transparent process, open to the public. All we have been asking for is justice; one system that applies to everybody equally, regardless of creed or station in life.
