The public hearing on several by-laws resumes tonight at Prince George City Council. At the last meeting, the session  went on so long, Council agreed to keep the hearing open and resume  the discussion this evening.

That hearing  is looking at

  • the new regulations for pawn shops and second hand dealers,
  • changes to the zoning bylaw which would include the new restrictions on river lot development ( see previous story)
  • bylaws pertaining to “vehicles for hire”,
  • flood plain regulations, and
  • the regulation and licensing bylaw.

Council will also be asked to approve a deadline for an “Alternate Approval Process” so the City can borrow nearly $7.18 million dollars through three different bylaws for a variety of projects including the Cemetery mausoleum, Waste water treatment centres, and the water main extension from BCR -Danson to Ferry Avenue

The suggested deadline for the collection of 5535 signatures saying they oppose one or more of the bylaws is 5 p.m. May 14th.

Council will also be asked to look at the funding options for the construction of the Heritage River Trail -Highway 16 underpass . That is the project which bids have come in $360,000 higher than the budgeted amount.

We always need more rules. More laws. More taxes. Can't trust anyone. Seems the people don't have common sense. Make these rules, laws, regulations, by-laws, to suit the lowest common denominator. Might come a day there will be a law that says we have to breathe. Under penalty of death for not.
Another ice age have to come before that off roaders paradise at the top of Ospika becomes less of an eyesore and becomes a connecting road? I say ice age, cause that should follow global warming. Right? City always running out of money when it comes to doing something about that continuation? Maybe it might be in the "second ten year plan". Always falls off the list? Might help lessen the burden at the Domano and 16 intersection. Well. Here's hoping.
What we really need is more Timmy Hos's .

In my view of the world a good cup of Timmy's can solve all our problems.

Even help keep the city hall folks awake for them late nite meetings, to help rezone land to build more Tims...see its working already..............

And a pretty good chance if you get your wallet / purse lifted while there, that you can find an officer or 28 nearby to report it to........
Some portly officers, too!!!
