First it was the Conversations on Health, now it's time to talk about Mental Health and addictions.

Northern Health  has set the dates for  consultations on addictions and mental health services.

Residents  of Northern B.C. are being invited to provide input on addictions and mental health services through community meetings across the region and by completing a workbook. Residents will also be able to suggest ways to improve local health services in general.

More than  two dozen communities and Aboriginal communities will be visited.  There will also be an online  "workbook" with response section. that will ask  questions about  current addictions and mental health services, and how those suffering from addictions or mental illness can be better supported.

"We want to ensure that clients, caregivers and others in the community have a voice in the development and ongoing evaluation of our services,"
said Joanne Bezzubetz, NH Regional Director of Addictions and Mental Health. "Right now, we are exploring ways to improve service access and welcome the input of residents from across the region."

Quoted above is the phrase, " it's time to talk". Like they haven't talked before? Any other group talked before concerning these issues? Let's just talk, waste time, then go home and go about our business. Someone can condense all this talk into a glossy government brochure saying we have a problem/problems. And nothing will be done due to a lack of funding. Kinda like debating the merits to a person drowning and saying you want to discuss the best way of throwing that person a life ring to help save them. Who gets paid how much to "chair" these talks? A waste of time and energy, in my opinion. It ain't rocket science to figure out what the problems are. Just no brains and guts and no money to DO something about them. What a waste!!
