It is plain to see that it is time the laws were changed so people can protect themselves. Mabey it is time people started packing iron.I wonder how many of these scumbags the ordinary citezens would have to shoot before the scumbags left lawabiding people alone. This same thing could happen to any of us or our familys so think before you dissagee....DOZ
People that slash throats should never see freedom again IMO. There should be a special law for those kinds of heinous crimes.
Slash? Thought he got stabbed. Two or three alleged native males? Better get those healing circles ready.
Jail...for a LONG LONG time. The fact that they may have been native males has nothing to do with it.You do the crime, you do the time.It shouldn't make a difference what your ethnic background is!No exceptions!
If caught a nice public hanging in the park will suffice IMO.
Glad to see I am not the only one who is sick and tired of the BS...DOZ
Everyone is sick and tired of it Dozer.Except for the politicians who obviously don't have the stomach for it.
What other possible reason could there be for the courts to keep handing out sentences that put these losers back on the street?
If there is not enough room in the jails, build more!Soon!
The next time I go to the ballot box, that will be the first and foremost question I will ask.
What did this wannabe politician or party do to toughen up our courts and sentencing for repeat offenders?
If they did nothing concrete,I will not vote for them.Period.
A public hanging would be the perfect solution...
Now the News say "Victim NOT helping Police"....Fear or Stupidity....
It may not be the case but with all the drug traffiking and other violent acts related to gangs ie: the crew ect: and the loping off of limbs that we dont hear about but does happen there may be more to this than robbing a dude of change. Doesnt change things in terms of punishments mentioned abouve but not unlikely either
Truth is if any of the above was implemented the victim would quickly be forgotten in a mad politically correct rush to save the slashers. Healing circle, schit!

There is nothing you can do in today's society to protect yourself.

As we age the braves will get braver and feed more often. The only solution, (until someone important is caught alone) is to pack cash and pay.

Anyone I know that stood up for themselves ended up with a record, and the punks walked. The courts like punks, but not you crime fighters. You are here to bleed for the court system, not slow it down. Assume the position and grab your ankles.

As much as I wish it were not true YDPC,you probably are. That unfortunately,is the sad truth of it all.I just wish to hell I could figure out why? What is it that our politicians and lawmakers can't see?
Or perhaps it a case of what is it that they Do see, that we don't?
Actually it is not the politicians as much as it is the media. Politicians like to be seen as caring love-ilbe folks, and the media loves to ketch them hanging some illiterate thug. Now that is not very caring is it?

Media is more trouble than the thugs for the politicians, so we pay. And the politicians shed crocodile tears over some Disordered Alcohol Syndrome killer that no one can touch, just for the media.
I just hope they when they are caught they don't use the plea as the teenager in Vancouver who ran over a store clerk during a gas and dash. something along the line of because he is native and from a family of non-supervision, he came from a bad background, ETC.
That to me just means that they need more time in for counseling and such.
I'm very glad to hear that the victim is improving. What a horrible nightmare he has to live with for the rest of his life.
I hope they catch these creeps and I don't care how old they are or what color either. Nor does blaming their upbringing work for me. I believe that after a certain age you have to take responsibility for your own actions. There needs to be harsher punishment.
So what? Some drug related loser gets a mis-placed incision or two. And every one whines. Big deal. If he is stupid enough to be involved with drugs and with less than savoury people who would kill ya just as soon as look at ya fer a few bucks, maybe you are wasting valuable room on our planet. Turn the page now and read the funnies. Ha ha ha, that Garfield's sure is funny. Nothing will change until the paper comes out the next day and it happens to someone else. Too bad, so sad. Ya right.
check todays citizen. The victim is known to police and is being less than forthright in telling them what happened.

Although it may not be the case, isn't it a bit odd that a 29 yr. old man was hanging around the skate park and then got attacked near the overpass on massey Drive? Could it be he was actually the aggressor and got some street justice from the younger people he accosted?

Just something to think about for all you conspiracy theorists out there!
A: slashing throats, stabbing and other such things that might go on in the street are in no way 'justice' street or otherwise. When we start to legitimize such behaviour (AND public lynching as well in my opinion) we give in to the wild west behaviour which will, eventually catch up to all of us, no matter how clever and/or rich we may be.
B: Politicians dont give a damn for the same reason we all breathe a little sigh of relief when we hear that the victim was known to police, or that the victim knew his attacker. We all sit back , comforted by the knowledge that such a dreadful thing is still not likely to happen to US.
We all need to realize that this sort of behaviour is part of a culture of violence which is growing like a cancer in many towns in canada and abroad. How many of us middle aged folk ever took part in a swarming when we were young? How many stabbed someone or drowned their rivals, or hit someone in the neck with a machete? I for one, did not grow up with such things, even though i was widely viewed as a bad seed in my neighbourhood.
There are a lot of suggestions posted here, most of them dealing with stiff jail terms and such. However, I did not forbear from murdering my enemies and rivals because i was scared of a jail cell. I didnt do it because such a thing is WRONG or EVIL on a scale which i would not, even in my most stupid drunken moments, have stooped to.
It is a serious mistake to think that such crimes are less important because they involve people known to police. The fact is that such behaviour is a symptom or a moral deficiency. It is like a cancer, and as such WILL someday spread to our safe communities, whether we are stupid enough to get involved with drug dealers or not.
SOmething needs to be done and i am not sure what. Perhaps it begins at the home. My parents created me and most of my values. Considering the fact that they were poor on a level few people in canada today could even understand suggests that poverty alone does not make for criminal behaviour. On the other hand, the people who are currently doing these terrible things probably have children. What will they teach their children (by example at least)? I find it very hard to believe that the friends and relatives of thugs do not know what they are up to. WHy do they condone it?
When i first moved here i thought it was funny to see the young people dressed in LA gang colors and acting like they were in gangs. I dont think it is funny any more.
Seems I called it right

"known to police"
caranmacil - your post makes a lot of sense and there is much wisdom in your words. Not enough of our children are living with boundries these days. Too many parents "break the rules" for their kids because "they (the parents)" think they are smarter than the law makers. As an example - parents who allow their kids to drink "because they will anyways". Or smoke pot, or have sex, or fail at school. Lazy parents breed troubled kids. Lazy parents teach their kids that the rules don't apply to them. Therein, anarchy.
Can't argue with that logic whynotyou!!That is a major part of the problem.
Hey whynotyou and caran: I wouldn't over theorize. The guy is 29 yrs old. In your day you may have just been a punk - a small blip on the cops radar. Today the drug subculture in prince george is a major catastrophy. If this guy is known to police and was hanging around the skate park at first then he was dealing for sure. there is a large number of youth at the skate park...and guess what? The crew have a lot of youths in their ranks, alot of which are native. This incident could very well be a matter of turf war, which could explain why the victim isnt saying much....
It has been my experience that a true innoccent victim will tell all because they have nothing to hide.
Maybe the day care ladies didn't raise these thugs properly. Blame them.
Absolutely correct Whynotyou! And yes you hit the nail on the head Vocer. I guess I spoke to soon, thinking that the guy that got slashed was innocent...what was I thinking! :(
