The Federal Government is  getting some pressure to  have the Canadian Food Inspection Agency regulate the contents of pet food.

The pressure comes as some pet owners  launch law suits  or look for alternative food sources following the massive recall of  some brands  feared to have been contaminated with  rat poison.

Toronto  area NDP M.P. Olivia Chow  is one of the people calling for  the regulations, although she says legislation may not be necessary as  she thinks the Canadian  Food Inspection Agency can add  the pet food industry to those already under its jurisdiction.

Chow has  launched a video on  youtube  to spread the word, and  encourage pet owners to sign a petition.

The Opinion250 poll asked "Should pet food manufacturers be regulated to ensure the safety  of ingredients in pet food?
