It will take thousands of truck loads of material to fill  the  slide area on Highway 16 east,   near Slim Creek.  It will take hundreds of thousands  of dollars to  make the repairs.

Repairs to the  roadway  may take a couple of weeks to complete,  making it May before the highway is back to  full operation.  The cost of the  fill and fix  will be in the $750 thousand to $1 million  dollar mark.

A huge  chunk of the westbound lane near Slim Creek  slid into the ravine on Wednesday night.  No  one injured.

The  Highway is  open to single lane , alternating traffic.

This is the second time in 15 years that  a chunk of road in that Slim Creek area has  slipped.   The other slip was just 400 meters from the  latest site.

Now if this was the Sea to Sky highway I feel old Gordo would see it fixed a lot quicker than that....
But to those working on this slide with what they have, or don't have...I thank them.
I agree with Gofaster. If this was the lower mainland,it would be as done.
Unfortunate,but hey,it happens!
But just wait til the runoff REALLY starts to happen! We are gonna look like Venice in a lot of places!!Nechacko in Vanderhoof coming up FAST!!
Could be quite an interesting and costly spring!
Interesting indeed!
I wouldn't want to drive a transport truck on that single lane remaining, rumbbling over that with 63 tons.
$750,000.00 repair to roadway two weeks.

$750,000.00 repair to Cameron St., Bridge 18 months and still no action.

If we lost the John Hart, and Foothills bridge for some reason, our illustrious City Fathers would have the Camerson St. Bridge up and running within two weeks.

Funny how you can waste money and manipulate situations if your back isnt against the wall.
