Prince George RCMP were called to the Pearson-Upland area of the city this afternoon to complaints of an underage drinking party, and an erratic driver.

When they arrived on the scene, they spotted a 2003 Toyota Highlander with two flat tires, driving over lawns and into the ditch.  The officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver took off.  The chase didn’t last long as the Toyota pulled into an apartment parking lot and police blocked the access to  and from the parking lot.

Turns out the Toyota had been reported stolen a couple of days ago.

A 16 year old male has been arrested and is facing a string of charges including, possession of stolen property, impaired driving, flight from a Police Officer, Mischief and dangerous driving.

I hope the boys got some good hits in because that's probably the worst punishment this punk will get.
Bad,bad boy!No pizza for you!Go to your room!
(end of story)
That's not true. When he goes to YCC, he will get pizza.
Good point reasonableman, but the big question is will he actually GO YCC?
5 will get you 10 he doesn't!!
Do I notice a tad of frustration in the above comments?
He is still a kid!!!

Where the hell are the parents?
For lack of a better word, frustration will do nicely.
Come on now, the kid was probably bored.
Oh come guys have some pity for him, he probably had a bad childhood. If he also happens to be native the courts will love him.
Any parent who allows their kids to break the law based on either: a) you will do it anyways so you might as well have my permission (drinking when underage) or b: I disagree with that law so I will allow you to break it (drugs and alcohol), is taking away the boundries that are vital to the development and growth of our children.

Yes, they do it anyways, but they do it knowing they are not supposed to do it. They get practise pretending to be "smarter than us" when they sneak out and break the rules. As long as they know they are breaking them their conscience will eventually work on them and they will learn the difference between a bad choice and a good choice. If we take away the opportunity for them to find out what a bad choice is by saying it is no longer a bad choice. When and how will they learn?
Everytime kids get into trouble the chorus starts with were are the parents, make the parents pay etc. Yes there are bad parents out there, you don't need a licence to have kids. But what can parents do to control their kids, nothing at all. Ground them, thats great, how many parents get a f... you and the kid heads out anywhy. All one can do is try and raise them with a good home and then hope for the best.

When a kid winds up in court nothing happens. Most of the judges today where the dope smoking, free loveing Trudeau voters out of the sixties. Thats my theory on why the courts are such a mess.
Did you ever consider the fact that maybe he is a ward of the province ?
It may have nothing to do with the parents at all, and you can't force poor parents to be good ones, even if it were the case.

I'll take your bet, Andy, I think he's going to do time. It's likely not a first time either.

What do we do ? My favorite idea for young offenders is the "grow up and own it plan".

First, you are handed complete and total responsibility for your actions. (along with an invoice)

Once you are made completely aware that it is solely your fault and responsibility, then your time served is based on how long it takes you to make reparation for the costs of what you did. You pay for this through work performed, just like the rest of society. Gainful employment, in a secure setting, because court ordered restitution in the form of a probation order is just so empty and such a waste of paper anyway.

This should apply to native AND non-native.
Last time I checked, we all have red blood and we all pee from the same place.
