Medical Health Officer Dr. Lorna Medd says  examination of chest x rays, shows none of the 34 people who were tested for TB in Vanderhoof have the disease.

Dr. Medd says this is the first batch of the approximately 100 x rays that have been taken. The result of those chest x rays are expected later this week.

For those who have tested positive Dr. Medd says they will be offered an antibiotic that they will take for between 6 and 12 months just as a precaution. To this date she says there is still only one positive case of TB in that community.

People were tested in that community after a restaurant worker tested positive for the disease which spreads only through someone coughing or sneezing on you. Dr. Medd pointed out again that people who ate at the restaurant need not worry,  the disease cannot be spread by people touching food or through poor hygiene.
