As the price at the pumps jumped another 5 cents in Prince George, a report on regulated gas prices was released on the other side of the country.

The report was commissioned by the government of Nova Scotia to  examine how  its system of regulated prices was faring eight months into the new regulations.

The bottom line of the $132 thousand dollar report is that

  1. it is costing consumers about one cent  more per liter,
  2. Consumers seem to welcome the stability  in pricing,  and
  3. It is too soon to tell if the plan is  a success.

The report is now under review so the Nova Scotian government can make a decision on whether or not it will stick with the regulations which  fix prices for two weeks at a time.  One of the recommendations in the report calls for the price setting to be  changed weekly  instead of every two weeks.

Price fixing...
that pretty much says it all..
The last price of crude that I saw was less than it was when fuel prices went to 90 cents per liter.
Someone try to convince me that refinery prices have gone up that much that they can see a need to stick it to us like they have been.
I would love to be elected to a governing party in BC. Hell I would just like to be elected as an MLA so that I could do something meaningful for the consumer.
Conservative by nature, but I have had enough of gouging by the oil companies. It needs to stop.
