Semi Driver Charged After School Bus Clipped

The driver of a transport truck is facing three charges after a school bus was clipped near Vanderhoof.

RCMP say the  school bus was stopped at Highway 16 and Barsness Road, east of Vanderhoof this morning, picking up children  to take them to  school. 

The bus had its flashing lights on, but the semi  kept going, swerved to the left to pass the bus, and clipped the rear left corner of the school bus.

No one injured, and  the students were  transferred to another bus.

The driver of the semi is facing three charges:

  • failing to stop
  • undue care and attention
  • following too close

No, no, no. They need to add "reckless endangerment", and especially "assualt with a deadly weapon". In my opinion, when a semi truck driver is actually caught in the act, they really really really need to make an example of him. It is the only way the nasty drivers will realize that, just because they won't get hurt, does not mean they can take chances with other peoples lives. IMO - this driver should never ever be allowed to drive a vehicle of any kind for a living again.

There, my rant for the week. Thanks for listening! PS, I mean every word I said! Too many times I would have died if I had proceeded through my green light, but something made me wait, and the reason went zooming by on 18 wheels.

The 80% of truckers that drive like idiots are making the 20% who actually obey the rules of the road look bad.

Luckily there were no children crossing the road.

Reckless endangerment most certainly has to be added.

WCB should be made aware of this as well. This person needs to be charged by them since he/she is causing an unsafe work environment by putting not only themselves in danger of a workplace accident buit also the worker driving the school bus.

There are many laws and regulations broken with such an incident.
