Meet Chip Wilson.  If he calls you,  don't hang up, he is not a telemarketer.

He is the owner and founder of lululemon athletica, and one of the B.C. celebrities  being used to try and convince you to pick up the phone and call  friends and family to come to  B.C.

It is all  part of the new project  launched by the province to try and attract workers from other parts of C anada and the world to  make the move to  B.C. and address our  shortage of skilled workers.

It's called WorkBC and involves an ad campaign to  convince British Columbians to contact  some of the people they know in other parts of the country or the world, and convince those friends, family  or colleagues  to make the move.

The plan addresses  five key areas:

  1. Keep the workforce we have;
  2. Develop the skills of the existing workforce;
  3. Increase Aboriginal participation and labour market success;
  4. Find and attract more workers to B.C.; and
  5. Address regional skills shortages.

Two  key parts of the plan are the launching of the website www.WorkBC.ca  and  the "B.C. is Calling"  recruitment campaign.

The website  has information for potential employees on  jobs and requirements,  it also has information for employers.  The "B.C. is calling" campaign  directs people to the website  where they can  send  e-cards or voice mail messages to  people they would like to recruit.

Campbell and his lackies are truly idiots.Like they have nothing better to spend our money on?
What an embarassment!
What great paying jobs are being created in Prince George. Has anyone ever been to a lululemon store. The prices are outrageous, but I bet his employees are minimum wagers. Well my relatives wouldnt want to leave their home cities, to come to BC especially Northern BC. Oh well just another waste of taxpayer money, maybe we need a focus group to study this and waste more money haha.
Perhaps they should add a number 6.

6. Adequately fund post secondary educational institutions and increase training of students in professions and trades which are in short supply.

If they did that, just imagine, BC teenagers could have a life to look forward to and BC could fill its own vacancies with the skilled people trained here.
All ready did my part. I hired a guy out of New Brunswick and another fellow from the Niagara Peninsula area. Good people and good workers.
sorry my phone is there for my use...
you call,
I don't know you
or don't want to talk to you...
bet on it...
I will be hanging up.....
I agree Gofaster...nothing more than telemarketing.
I will also be hanging up.
You really have to wonder who comes up with these ridiculous ideas and why do we get to pay for it??
And ammonra is also correct.We need to train our youth and the people we already have in B.C.
We also need a new government!
Once forestry (the economic driving engine of the BC economy) goes "titters" this whole ideology will evaporate...the trades that trained here will depart.
I agree Imorg....and don't think the B.C.government doesn't know that!
They also have to face an election before the Olympics in 2010 so they will do whatever they have too to keep things pumped!
