The Prince George Dry Grad efforts have been given a boost from  donations made at the Provincial Liquor stores.

The total donations in P.G, from Feb. 26 to March 31 hit  $14,173 dollars. The amount was part of a record breaking  province wide collection of $478,307 dollars.

The money comes from liquor store customers  who were encouraged to donate one dollar to support dry grad celebrations in their communities. All donations are given to the local school district in which the store is located, to be distributed to public high schools planning alcohol-free graduations.

This year, 54 school districts took part in the campaign. The contributions by liquor store customers supplement funds raised by parents, students and teachers who volunteer year- round to raise funds for dry grads. Dry grad events have included boat cruises, dances, ski trips, mock casino nights, karaoke contests, games and overnight field trips. Last year, government liquor store customers donated a total of $403,351.

Dry grad is fun, but lets face the facts that underage people still go out and drink, then show up at dry grad and ruin it. But go have fun at Dry Grad make it a memorable night.
