Senner Sentenced
Monday, August 29, 2005 11:00 AM

The sentence is to be served in her home community of Chase where she must face a curfew of 8p.m. and remain in her home till 6 a.m.
In addition, Senner is not allowed to consume alcohol, or possess restricted or prohibited weapons. Justice Glen Parrett also ordered Senner to seek counseling and or treatment as he is concerned about Ms. Senner’s emotional and mental state. Pointing to the evidence, Justice Parrett noted Senner’s version of events seemed "sanitized", and "detached."
"Her version of events" said Justice Parrett, "is completely passive, she doesn't describe herself as doing anything" He noted how she told the court that during her struggle with the deceased, "stuff just started flying everywhere" The Judge said he is concerned with the manner in which she appears to have "explained away her actions".
In delivering the sentence, Justice Parrett said he beleives she is very unlikely to be involved in a future offence, nor does he think Senner poses any risk to other persons or property.
Letters of support for Ms. Senner were a significant factor in sentencing. Justice Parrett noted that he had read each and every letter and said "They paint a compelling picture of a woman who is a valued member of society who enriched the lives of those with which she has come in contact."
The length of sentence means Ms. Senner will be able to appeal any removal order issued by Immigration Canada.
