The Provincial Ministry of Highways will be taking another look at the “S” curve south of Willow River.

There have been two accidents at the north end of the curve in less than a month.  One of the accidents was fatal.

(at left, Susan van Dijk points to spot where  motorcylce came to rest last month when  it left the road. 58 year old Garry Dayton of Prince George, died in that crash)

The Ministry spokesperson, Jeff Knight, says  they will wait for the police report to see  what police  believe  was the cause of the most recent crash which happened Monday morning at about 7:30 when a motorcycle went off the road. A 60 year old man from Willow River was injured in the crash when his 1977 Kawasaki went off the road.

“There already is signage at that curve noting it is a difficult curve, and the speed  is reduced to 60 kilometres per hour” says Knight, but that doesn’t mean  there won’t be changes.  “It will depend on what the police say in their report.”

Neighbours have raised concerns about the curve in the past,   (see previous story) they believe the corner isn’t properly banked, and while  it is posted at a reduced speed of 60 kilometres, they aren’t convinced that is slow enough.

I know this is off topic, but I wonder how long it will take the Citizen to pick up on this story. Seems like they steal everything you guys write. Do they pay you for those stories? Sorry I know its off topic... keep up the good work!
The negligence is not slowing down to the posted speed and/or anticipating the road.Is the MOH going to look at every other curve in the area where an accident happened and straighten them out too??That's almost every road in the province. There were 2 fatalities on Queensway where they failed to negotiate the curve and it remains. The only reasaon this has drawn any attention is because of the short span of time between incidents..has long has that road been there??SLOW DOWN!SPEED KILLS!DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE! Heard it all before??Then pay attention..oh and having insurance and a license might help too.
I agree with the Citizen comment 100%. They seem very archaic compared to 250 - They may be the paper of record but 250 is the "news media" of record. I see they have followed 250's lead and put on an up to date web sight. I find their sight very difficult to navigate around - seems very clustered. 250 is easy - get the news you need fast and move on with your day. I think 250 is a leader in news media not just here in Northern BC but quite possibly the country.
Slow Down.

I believe the words, "The Ministry will wait....."
