The Fraser River is creeping up the banks in Paddlewheel Park this evening

The Ministry of Environment’s River Forecast Centre has revised its river level forecast for the Fraser River at Prince George and the news is not good...

The most current information from the Ministry shows the Fraser reaching 8.4-metres sometime between midnight and 6am Thursday morning, peaking at 9.0-metres by noon tomorrow.

At 9.0-metres, the City expects flooding in historically low-lying areas, including Farrell Street (correct) and Paddlewheel Park.  City staff are currently depositing sand and bags in the park for residents along Farrell to use, and they’ll be going door-to-door to notify homeowners.

Provincial Emergency Program spokesperson, Dwayne Meredith, says flooding of nearby buildings is expected if the river rises to 9.4-metres.
