Quesnel RCMP are out with a blanket warning about phone, mail, and internet scams aimed at pilfering your hard-earned dollars.

Police say they've received a number of complaints.  Constable Jay Collins says the majority of the scams revolve around depositing cheques on cheques on someone else's behalf.

You're supposed to be entitled to keeping a portion as a fee, but the con artists end up duping you out of personal information and dollars.

Constable Collins says the people running the scams are generally overseas and untraceable, so there is little recourse for the victim.

As the old adage goes, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

The first person gets paid, that's for sure.

The only way you get your money back is by duping others out of theirs.
