Two people were taken to hospital after they were pepper sprayed at 835 Central St. shortly after 3.00 am. this morning.
The victims were parked at a gas station, with the sliding van door open, when ten males approached them, spraying the van.
The occupants sought shelter in the van, but the suspects continued to spray the van.
This incident is similar, to one that occurred, the previous night at 1St and Ospika Blvd.
In that incident, three males approached a man walking along the street, and pepper sprayed him.
He also was taken to hospital for treatment.

And yet in the governments never ending wisdom, they have made pepper spray and mace illegal for the average Canadian to use to defend themselves. Is it any wonder Canada has such a high rate of rapes? This reminds me of the gun registry, punish the law abiding and the criminal will follow.
Make pepper spray chemicals a controlled substance seeing the harm it does. Just like cocaine and heroin. That might be the answer in getting rid of it. Our leaders will rise to the occasion if pressed enough.
Some idiot found a can of pepper spray, and now he and his buddies are running around, making their jollies with it, until it runs out.
It could have been bear spray...which is basically the same stuff but oil based. Wicked! And used the way it was makes it a prohibited weapon under the criminal code so if anyone is caught, a likewise charge will be laid.
I hope "thereasonableman" is correct and the idiot along his idiot friends will run out of spray soon.

Must have been very scary for the victims to be confronted with this type of random violence. It is not the weapon used but the fact that someone unknown to you wants to hurt you for what appears to be their own amusement.

Controlling this spray will not work. What happens if these idiots were throwing rocks or even some household cleaner - should those be banned to? ANYTHING can be a weapon and the Criminal Code accounts for that with s. 267 "Assault with a Weapon or Causing Bodily Harm" or s. 269 "Unlawfully Causing Bodily Harm".

I'd be willing to bet that these are young men between the ages of 15 and 22 and they are known to police and the courts. Hopefully, someone close to these guys will recognize that this is very ugly behaviour and make that call to the RCMP.
It likely was a "bear spray". They are the same thing, just different labels.

It is not an outlawed substance for it's intended purpose, just like guns are not outlawed for their intended purpose.

It's idiot people that are the problem, not the product.

We should outlaw stupid people having kids.
That's the solution.

Fail the GED test 3 times and you're off to get sterilized.
