Search Reveals Little

Searchers  line up to register to take part in the search for clues in the disappearance of Nicole Hoar.

The Hoar family ( in the centre of the photo above) travelled from Red Deer to take part in yesterday's search at the Norman Lake  transfer station.  They, along with  about 60 others,  came to the site to  see if there was anything that could lead them to an answer in the disappearance of 25 year old Nicole.  They will be heading home with  those questions still unanswered.

The search was  organized  by  private investigator Ray Michalko.  He told searchers to  comb the  bush , looking for  anything that just didn't belong, a piece of clothing perhaps,   bones, anything.  The possibility  that just about anything might be discovered was very real as the search  was concentrated in an area around a dump and wild animals  could have pulled just about anything from the transfer station to  the wooded areas.

Although the searchers combed a 2 kilometer square  area  around the Norman Lake Road transfer station,  they came up with little.  Michalko ( in the photo at left) told Opinion250  the  searchers came up with some bits of  material, some possible bone fragments, (not known  if they would be animal or human) but  there wasn't anything  that could be immediately linked to the Nicole Hoar case.

Still, Michalko says the day was a success. "We raised awareness, we were able to get people out and get people talking about this." Michalko says many of the volunteers told him they would be willing to take part in future  search efforts  should he come up with any other clues.

The RCMP were not  asked to attend the search, but one Constable from the Prince George detachment was sent to the site to  ensure  that if any evidence was  discovered that it was dealt with properly.

Nicole Hoar disappeared in June of 2002.  She had been working as a tree planter and was last seen hitch-hiking on highway 16 west, heading to Smithers to visit some friends.

I find it hard to beleive that people who have honest information would give it to Ray Michalko and not the RCMP.
As he is running a business, I ask him if he is milking this for all it is worth to like his own pockets?
I truely hope Ray Michalko that that is not the case.
I'm so sorry the family has to keep going through this over and over again.

I have a really hard time with the thought that anybody might consider the idea of "using the tragedy" for their own benefit.
