Recreation Avenue,  easy to imagine how a vehicle  could drive into the river, there is nothing to indicate the road is about to end.

V anderhoof RCMP are still hoping  to locate the vehicle which plunged into the Nechako River  early Saturday morning.

Police say the rental vehicle from Surrey, B.C. drove into the Nechako River off Recreation Avenue in Vanderhoof at about 3:30 in the morning.

Both occupants from the vehicle are from Richmond, B.C. The passenger escaped the vehicle but the driver Daljit Sandhu, 18-year-old, is still missing.

Vanderhoof Search and Rescue along with Prince George Search and Rescue assisted the RCMP to conduct an extensive search of the Nechako River shoreline with negative results.  The water is extremely high and  turbid at this time making it very difficult to search the waters.

Police are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone who may have information regarding this incident to contact them at (250)567-2222 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
