Crowd  watches with intensity as Spruce Kings  and Aurora Tigers battle for the Royal Bank Cup

The Spruce Kings didn't win it all,  but they tried.  They were defeated tonight 3-1 by the Aurora Tigers.  Still,  the event will leave a mark with the  community.

Two of the Royal Bank Cup organizers, Don Kehler , and Dan Rogers say that while the attendance will not set a new record, it will be the second best turn out of fans in the history of the Cup.

The event not only brought four teams to  Prince George, many of the family members of the teams travelled to P.G. for the tournament.  At right,  Ann and Frank Watts  travelled from Oakville Ontario to watch their son Jordon play for the Aurora Tigers.  Jordon was not dressed for the  championship game.

Organizers says that the record attendance was 36,000 people set by Grande Prairie when they hosted the event.   Kehler says, "We will hit 34,000 which is the second best overall."

Don Kehler says attendance isn’t the only mark of success "We may not have set a  record attendance, but there is no doubt  from what people are saying that our other activities in conjunction with the event far outclassed the efforts of any other city that has hosted the Tournament. "

The full  impact of the  eight day event will be known once all the  visitor surveys are complete.  Volunteers were asking people in attendance questions about their stay in Prince George.
