Part of this piece of property at Chief Lake Road and Foothills Boulevard  could become a neighbourhood pub

The first steps have been taken towards the development of a neighbourhood pub on Chief Lake Road in Prince George.  Council has given the application first two readings.

The owners of the property at the corner of Chief Lake Road and Foothills Boulevard have received first and second reading to their request to have the property rezoned to allow the construction of a neighbourhood pub, and Council has endorsed the application for a liquor license.

There will still need to be a public hearing, complete with  information on how  the neighbours  feel about the  proposal.

The City staff support the application saying the nearest neighbourhood pub is the Alpine Pub and it is 2.74 kms away as the crow flies, a full 3.34 kms by road. The application calls for a neighbourhood pub that would legally hold 95 persons inside (patrons and staff) and a further 20 outside on a patio.

Why not, there are at least two hundred people that live out that way.
Good luck!
I am not a bird expert and have never followed the flight of a crow. Do they fly pretty well in a straight line or do they follow the garbage container lined streets?
Legally hold 95 ....

and how many illegals will be allowed? Sort of like aliens?
"There will still need to be a public hearing, complete with information on how the neighbours feel about the proposal."

I am imagining the neighbours lying down on a couch and telling the surveyor their innermost feelings about the pub and how those feelings relate to their feelings about their mothers ...

;-)

I don't support this application. The reason being is that I would much rather see a viable pub at the end of Ness Lake Road.

The drive out Ness Lake Road as the sun sets is one of the most beautiful sights in the whole region and a great place and time to go out for a drive. All its missing is a pub on the lake for a meal and a beer at the end of the road. A pub that could also be used as a support base for eco-tourism and outdoor recreation activities. It would be great to have that kind of infrastructure in our community helping to build the critical support levels of infrastructure needed to make a real tourism industry in this area.
Sort of like the log house restaurant pub?
I think we need a funicular up Pilot Mountain ... Barring that, a small gondola lift, with a pub on top to watch the sunset.
Owl, you got it all wrong. Go for a drive tommorrow evening. the sun sets to the west almost directly in line with the Chief/Ness Lake road. Almost like driving into the sunset in the prarries. Awsome piece of cruising road. Snowmobiling, fishing, golfing, lake skiing, and canoeing are also some big sports out that way that would draw a lot of day trippers.

Also don't you know (lol) the place for a gondola should be the Indian cut banks out Miworth from the other side of the river to the top of the cutbank with an excellent view of PG to the east, and the Nechako Valley to the west, the river to the south, and the dream location for hard core mountain biking to the north. I'd have it cross the river from a community camp ground on its way up with a pub at the top only accessed by the gondola.
Lets put a pub or liquor store on every corner...
that should stop all the drunk drivers....
they will then be able to stagger home....

I never understood the parking lots at neighbourhood pubs. The whole idea was so people didn't have to drive when they have been drinking....
kind of a conflict of terms......???

This debate can and will go on forever...

I personally don't care all that much, as long as we can cut down on drunk drivers....but I somehow doubt this will in anyway help to accompish that...
But that is why there are people out there who are paid to make these decisions......right or wrong....
Prince George has the highest number of Drinking Establishments per capita. So obviously we need one more, to show that we hold up true to our title and that weare cleary a red neck city. Need I say more
I think having a gondola or chair"lift" running accross the river somewhere around here is an excellent idea. They have some like that in Europe. I would start in a place where there is a bit more population, such as from Ft. George Park to Gunn point. Might be a bit of a stretch for a cable, but the elevation difference might be sufficient to do it.

Pipe dream .. too much money and this is not Europe.

next ;-)
Here are the top ten alcohol consuming countries (per capita) in the world in order from 1 to 10 - Luxembourg Hungary Republic of Ireland Czech Republic Germany France Portugal United Kingdom Spain Denmark

The USA is 26th

I do not know where Canada ranks, but I am sure that PG has a long way to go to have the most drinking establishments per 10,000 residents in Canada, North America, and the World.

For example, Pulaski in Missouri has about one per 2,000 population. That means we should have about 35 to 40 to beat them. How many do we have, not counting restaurants?

WHATS WITH THE GONDOLA MAN! This is PG and they want to put a pub on Cheif Lake Road. No where was anyone talking cable car gondolas.
Owl, nice gondola's. How much you figure they cost?
With the price of gas, they won't be able to afford to drive after drinking.
