Independent truckers in Houston and Burns Lake have won support from the local politicians in their effort to seek similar rates as have been negotiated by the Independent truckers in this region .
Both the Mayor of Houston, Sharon Smith and the Mayor of Burns Lake, Bernice Magee, agree to work with the truckers in their efforts to resolve the issue.
Dan Henry, President of the Prince Goerge Truckers Association says "We welcome their support."
The group is attending the next council meeting hoping the two towns will send letters to West Fraser and Canfor officials encouraging the companies to begin serious talks with the PGTA and the United Steel workers.
The truckers are seeking better hauling rates, improved turn around times and other contract improvements. They won improved recognition here and are seeking the same in the Caribou and Smithers region.
