The  Chair of Northern Health says he has agreed to stay on until a replacement can be found.

Jeff Burghardt ( shown at right ) completed his  two year term  as the Chair  in January of this year.

"That was always the plan" says Burghardt, "I was nominated for a two year period, and we have not been able to secure or find a new Board Chair, and I have certainly agreed with  Government that I will remain as Chair until such time as a successful candidate is put in place."

Burghardt won’t say if there are any potential candidates. "I am not yet aware on when the new Chair will be organized, it is still in progress and its a matter of  discussion with the government, but there is nothing imminent."

There is speculation there are candidates for the post, but again, Burghardt won’t elaborate "The government is working with us  on how we should do that, and all I can is that we are in discussion."

After all, the Minister of Health Services does have to be sure any new Chair will do what he is told. Heaven forbid that an independent, democratically elected and outspoken candidate would occupy the position. If that fantasy were to come about people might come to find out just how bad funding is in Northern BC, just like in the Fraser Valley.
