Quesnel Athletes Dominate Team Titles

Quesnel athletes dominated the team aggregate titles in the North Central Zone high school track and field championships at Masich Place Stadium in Prince George. Correlieu Secondary led the 18-event junior women and bantam women team standings while Quesnel Secondary topped the 16-event juvenile women rankings. North Peace Secondary of Fort St.John earned the most points in the 17-event senior women team standings. Quesnel’s Correlieu Secondary won the men bantam, juvenile and junior team aggregates. Williams Lake Secondary prevented a Correlieu sweep by taking home the senior men team title. The 2-day zone championship qualified 41 north central athletes for the BC Secondary School track and field championships June 1-2 in Burnaby. Among the 10 Prince George qualifiers for the provincials are Kyle O’Meara of College Heights Secondary and Jonathon Rathjen of D.P. Todd who each earned provincial berths in 3 field events.
