Alyx Treasure of Prince George has been named to one of the two Provincial Under-15  Girls Basketball teams following Basketball BC tryouts May 25th to 27th at Riverside High School
in Port Coquitlam. Treasure was chosen even though she suffered a groin injury on the second day of tryouts (Saturday) which prevented her from competing on the last day.
The 5-foot-10 Post/forward is in grade 9 at DP Todd. She played the past two seasons on the DP Todd Jr Girls basketball team and will move up to the Sr team in the 07/08 season.
Treasure, a provincial track star as well, took up basketball just three years ago when she joined the PG Minor Basketball Association in Grade 7.
She will have a busy summer on the road. Her first tournament with the provincial team will be
the June 29th weekend at SFU. Among other tournaments: one in Spokane and another in
Seattle.
Two other North Central players were among a select group of 40 that attended U-15 tryouts following invitations, however Ashley McMillan of Lakewood and Michelle Schmidt of Vanderhoof were not among the 24 chosen (12 for each team).
Treasure, McMillan and Schmidt led the North Central Under-15 Shock team to a 5th place finish out of 13 the previous weekend at the Basketball B.C. Jamboree in Pitt Meadows.
In March of this year, Treasure played at the Jr Girls Provincials for the second straight year in Vernon. In her last game, she led DP Todd to a 54-27 victory over Prince Rupert, scoring a
whopping 23 points.
Other North Central players that have been picked to play for Team B.C. this summer include:
Emily Kaehn of Lakewood (U-16 girls), Kevan Madsen of Kelly Road (U-16 boys) and Tallon Milne of NVSS (U-17 boys).
