Hot Season Underway

 Here we go,  the forest fire season is officially underway in the Prince George  fire District.

Forest Service firefighters have responded to 5 human-caused fires over the weekend.  Three of these fires are less than one hectare in size and are currently in patrol status.

Air tankers and 20-person unit crews responded to fires southwest of Prince George and Chetwynd. The Fire Hawks unit crew from Prince George has been deployed to an approximately 40 hectare fire situated approximately 75km southwest of Prince George in the vicinity of the 3200 road.

The Rhino unit crew from Fort St. John has been deployed to an approximately 25 hectare fire situated approximately 30km southwest of Chetwynd in the vicinity of Hasler Creek.

To date, crews in the Prince George Fire Centre have responded to 45 fires covering approximately 210 hectares.

The fire danger rating is currently moderate throughout most of the Prince George Fire Centre. The current weather forecast predicts a warming and drying trend throughout most of the fire centre, with low humidity and high winds in the southern half and thunderstorm activity in the northern Peace.
