Start moving  things to higher ground, the experts say it is very likely the Fraser River will be at flood stage  next week.

"WIth the  hot temperatures expected this weekend,  the predictions are the Fraser will reach 9 meters next week :" says Prince George Fire Department Chief Jeff Rowland.  There could be low level  flooding as early as Monday, but experts say it is more likely the River will  hit the flood mark  of 9.2 meters by Wednesday.

The forecast for this weekend  is calling for temperatures in the low 30s.  So far, the  river  has risen and fallen  as temperatures cooled nearly as quickly as they had climbed, but that is not the prediction for  the next few weeks.

Last night the Fraser at South Fort George was  at  7.8 meters,  having  been on a slow steady climb for the past  6 days from 7.19 meters.

For comparison sake,  last year at this time, the Fraser was at 6.5 meters.

I wasn't aware until this morning that we are one of those low laying areas that are at risk. I thank the Fire Department for dropping off that pamphlet in our mailbox to warn us of the possible threat to our home ... what a great bunch of guys/gals. :)
