The head of the BC Lottery Corporation has been fired by the Board of Directors for the BC Lottery Corporation..

Solicitor General John Les supports the decision “The decision made today was clearly the correct decision.”  Vic Poleschuk was terminated today although Solicitor General John Les would not say if Poleschuk was given severance pay or if his firing was considered “with cause.”

For now,  an interim Chief Operating Officer has been appointed, the Board of Directors will met again next week to start the  process of searching for a new CEO.

The Chair of the Board for the BC Lottery Corporation, says the change was necessary if BCLC was to move forward with the implementation of the Ombudsman’s Report.

Earlier this week, Ombudsman Kim Carter released a report which said there were gaps in scrutiny of tickets, too many retailers were “winning”.   Carter said the system was open to abuse and possibly fraud.  The report also indicated the BCLC knew what was going on and did nothing about it. “That is a standard of conduct that is not up to the mark” said Les.

Yesterday, BCLC released the list of repeat retailer winners, none of which was from Prince George.

The Solicitor General says the independent audit which he has ordered, will look at everything and Les says if the review turns up information that would suggest fraud, those allegations will be turned over to the proper authorities.

“Let’s expose everything, let’s let the sun shine in.”

Typical B.C.government solution.
Fire Poleschuk and hope nothing sticks to the Liberals.
A so called "independant" audit ordered by the government is merely a bandaid to get the heat off.
Who are they kidding?
Seems Campbell and his gang are dealing with more and more sticky stuff over the last while.
Can't help but wonder how long until a really big stink arises?
The Liberals needed something to direct attention away from their 29% wage increase.
you may be right stviner
...and it is very interesting to note that not only did Poleschuk take in over $440 thousand dollars last year,he will now recieve something in the area of a one million ($1,000,000.00) severance package.
That does not actually happen it the real world to joe average, but it happens often in political la la land.
For the rest of us,we just lose our jobs and much of all we have worked for.
We also don't get 29 percent raises plus fat pension plans.
Have we had enough yet?..or shall we just ignore this one too?
It's only the taxpayers' money so nobody in government worries too much about spending plenty of it, no matter which party is in power.

Joe Average gets to pay the bill, always.

Facts of life. In this case the top dollars bought only a poor to mediocre performance, so there should be no severance package.

In fact, there should be a return of some of the salaries already paid.

(That would be the day!).

They say that crap always flows downhill. It would appear that the honorable (??) Mr. Les has perfected this method of passing the blame.
I wrote the head of BC Loto a letter a couple years ago questioning some of the figures in two of the annual reports. I figured there was a slush fund going on and I wanted to know why the figures were kind of odd.

The next thing you know a guy in a black suit shows up asking me what my problem is. Says he'd like to discuss it with me, I says I'd like a reply to my letter in writing, and I didn't want to argue with him. BC Loto always smelt bad to me but that was during the dark days of the 1990's when the NDP was in power and BC Loto could do what ever it wanted as long as the money rolled in to general revenue.

I never did get an answer to my inquiries and I didn't have the time to follow it up. I was too busy trying to keep from loosing my house, a fact not lost on BC Looto. I'm glad they caught up to the guy. If he didn't know what was going on, he wasn't reading his mail.

I knew Looto was paying real well, but why? Is that to keep they guy out of the office? Sure have lots of things to do to spend that kind of money!
Expose the posers. Remove them or replace them as they are exposed. Chester
"The next thing you know a guy in a black suit shows up asking me what my problem is."

Hmmmm, very interesting...
Very interesting indeed!
As much as the B.C.Government would like us to believe otherwise, there has always been an association with the criminal element when it comes to casino's and gambling in general.
And lotteries are just another form of gambling no matter how you look at it.
So I guess we know what that makes the B.C.Government do we not?
What kind of sleazy political leaders continue to promote an industry that is infiltrated by the criminal element?
And what kind of a elected government continues to promote gambling when they know damn well that low income earners who can least afford it,are some of the biggest users of the casino's?
Gambling destroys the lives of many,no question, and yet the government appears to see nothing wrong with that?
It really makes you wonder just what is actually going on here....
Its designed to give hope to people that have no hope, so that they are distracted from the real cause to their misery.

Of course the politicians are in on this because they, and the people that financing their political campaigns, are the ones creating misery for a lot of the so called low income citizens, as well as being the ones benefiting from the profits taken on the backs of the desperate.

Or out of...or up my...

I love it !
The British Columbia version of "The Apprentice".

You're fired ! Here's your cheque !

How can there be any incentive to do well, if there is so much reward for NOT doing a good job ?
