An unidentified man was taken to GR Baker Hospital in Quesnel last night , after he created a major commotion in that community.

The man was seen standing on the outside rails of the foot bridge crossing the Fraser.

Onlookers say that before the police had arrived the man had jumped into the Fraser , and was carried towards Baker creek.

He floated down stream and then washed up on an island near the West Park Mall.

Members of the Quesnel Search and Rescue, Swift Water Rescue team arrived and were able to retrieve him from the island.

The matter is still under investigation.
