Keeping Cool on Record Breaking Day

Three canoes strapped together,  helped some young people get on the water and  beat the heat Sunday!

Sunday was a record breaker when it came to temperature.  The old mark of 30 degrees had been set  in 1989.  The thermometer hit 32 Sunday.

Saturday was nearly a new one for the books.  The old record was 28.3 set in 1961 and the temperature Saturday was VERY close to that, hitting 28 degrees, but not quite enough to hit the record books.

The flooding in Cottonwood Island Park didn’t stop these youngsters from enjoying the cool waters overflowing the bridge.

There were plenty of boats on the water,  and  Wilkins Park in Miworth (shown at left) was a busy place.

The heat isn't going to stay though,  it will be  replaced with  thunderstorms, and that means lots of rain further  raising the river levels.
