McBride Watching Water Rise
By 250 News
With the weekend’s hot weather leading to a surge in snowpack melting, McBride is watching the level of the Fraser River.
From the bridge over the river at the east end of the community in the Robson Valley, the water can be seen to be creeping up the banks of a farm situated at a bend in the river.
Nearby, cattle grazed seemingly unconcerned by the encroaching water.
The Fraser can be seen in the background of this photo and winds down along the left-hand side, where it is making its way into the field.
Just a few hundred metres to the west, or to the right of this photo, water has seeped into the field and has made its way up to the roadside as shown in the photo below.
The photo at left shows the river from alongside Mountainview Road, near Koeneman Regional Park.
And the photo below shows the one road in the community that had some flooding yesterday.
Dominion Creek feeds into the Fraser and it was apparently overflowing its banks and sending water across Horseshoe Lake Road near the bird sanctuary at the south end of the community.
