Display  is called "B.C. Pine Forest: Hugged to Death", created by Dagmar and William Norton, and once it is done touring, will be a permanent monument on the artist’s ranch in Prince George.
It is called the "Red and Blue Mountain Pine Beetle Art Exhibition" and features  displays, photos and paintings all related to the  mountain pine beetle epidemic.
The show also has some Mountain Pine Beetle inspired poetry and music.
The exhibit is currently being hosted by the Saik’uz First Nation, and is on display at the Saik’uz Elementary School. The show runs until  the end of the day today, and is open from 2pm – 6pm. The show involves a partnership between the College of New Caledonia Nechako Campus, Arts Unlimited, and the Omineca Beetle Action Coalition.
Artists from all over the central interior have contributed. Exhibition Coordinator Annerose Georgeson says “We believe that artists, writers, and composers often have a special insight and way of looking at things. Mountain pine beetles are making a significant impact on the forests of the central interior of the province resulting in a unique and important current event.”
The exhibit will be traveling to other communities, with dates to be announced.

Funny how the softwood lumber tariff crisis had gradually given away to the pine beetle crisis which seems to be insinuating itself into the lore of BC, well, in the interior anyways. Guess the duties we have to pay at the border will be meaningless if we have nothing good to ship south anyway!!
Also interesting to hear the tourists refer to the bug kill as "Red Pine".
It's almost like they think it is a whole new species?
Now where the hell did that come from?
Who is educating these people?
A fine example of how much people are paying attention but then, maybe the government doesn't want them to pay too much attention!
We really ARE in trouble!!
