The Crown Attorney's Office in Ontario has not said why it will not extend the warrants to have 47 year old Michael Andreou Michalakis returned to that province.
Michalakis has been arrested and charged in Prince George with two counts of sexual assault , one count of administering noxious substance, and one charge of sexual exploitation. The Prince George charges date back to 2006 and follow a lengthy and comprehensive police investigation.
The 47 year old man is facing several charges in Ontario including : 16 counts of sexual assault , breach of Probation, three counts of Breach of Undertaking, and three counts of obstruction of justice. Some of the sexual assault charges against Michalakis date back to the 1980’s.
Ontario had issued warrants for his arrest, but the warrants are only good in Ontario. RCMP have confirmed the Crown Attorney's office in Ontario does not plan to have those warrants extended to B.C. The Crown has not indicated to police why it is not going to pursue the matter.
The RCMP in Prince George discovered that Michalakis was a wanted man when he was arrested and charged with seven counts in the city last November. He was charged in that instance with one count of possession of a controlled substance, trafficking in a controlled substance, carry and have firearms contrary to a court order, one count of uttering threats, along with three other firearm charges.
Police say the accused was a supervisor at a local restaurant, and it is alleged he sexually assaulted two male employees.
The police continue to investigate the matter.
Opinion 250 is attempting to talk to the Crown office in Ontario to explain why they have not asked to have Michalakis returned to that province to face charges.
