The Fraser is above the 9 metre mark in Prince George and that means flooding on low lying properties.

Flood warnings have been issued for Smithers,   Terrace, Hazelton, communities along the Nass, Skeena and Bulkley Rivers.

The Province's  Emergency Program has issued a list of  things that can be done to  reduce   losses from flooding:

* Move any indoor and outdoor items to higher ground;
* Relocate hazardous materials, such as cleaners and pesticides, to
higher ground to prevent water contamination;
* Unplug and disconnect any electrical items that may be at risk;
* Gather important papers in water-tight containers and keeping a record
of valuables in a safe place;
* Make arrangements for pets and livestock to be moved to safe locations;
* Move all farm equipment and implements to higher ground; and,
* Construct sandbag dikes or berms to protect homes and businesses.

The Provincial Emergency Program's website also has information at  www.pep.bc.ca.

A province-wide toll-free information line has een activated to provide information about water levels
and other information. The phone lines are staffed from 12 pm to 8 pm for  now and will be open 24 hours a day if necessary. The number is 1 888 350-6070.
