Who Will Challenge Kinsley for the Mayor's Chair?

By Ben Meisner

Tuesday, September 06, 2005 03:59 AM

Councilor Don Zurowski says “I’m still thinking, but I am leaning towards running for Council “. Those comments from a man many had thought may throw his hat into the ring to take on incumbent Mayor Colin Kinsley.

There will be one vacancy open in this years civic election, Councilor Cliff Dezell is not seeking re-election.

Meantime, while rumors abound, there has been no serious taker for a run at the Mayor’s job.

Best bet has been the rumor that former Head of CNC, Terry Weninger, has been thinking about giving it a go. Councilor Dan Rogers (who has routinely topped the polls) is also rumored to have been approached to take a run at the job.

Apart from these candidates, so far there have been no serious residents who are looking at challenging Colin Kinsley  for the job.

Mayor Colin Kinsley announced earlier that he would let his name stand for a third term.

Terry Weninger.... hmm

Kinsley would win against him ...

It would, however open it up to either Rogers or Zurowski to enter the race. I suspect whichever one of the two would enter, he would get the nod from the voters.
Nothing wrong with Meisner tossing his hat in the ring for Mayor!!!!!
City hall needs a shake up---and maybe some common sense would come back into the mix.
How about it Ben?? Feel up to it???
I think in a two person race, Ben would get more votes than Weninger by far, however, Kinsley would likely win.

If Rogers were to step up to the plate against Ben and Colin, Rogers would win.
Go Ben Go! Kinsley is dead wood. We need someone with a little imagination to run our City. I think it is suffering from the Penticton syndrome.
Hopefully Don Zurowski throws his hat in the ring.
Rock
It would be a tough choice betwen Ben and Dan Rodgers IMO. I would have to see what their vision was for their time as Mayor. Both men I believe have integrity and care about this city.

Colin on the other hand is in it for himself and would not get my vote even if he was the only guy running. In fact I would even reluctantly turn my name in if he was our only choice. I hope for the sake of PG that doesn't happen. LOL
Brian Skakun is the only man for the job. He is my hero.
later....
How about Jago?

What we need at City Hall is vision.

Dr. Charles Jago would likely be the best mayor we'll ever have.

Go for it Ben. This councel needs a good shake down. Just think of all the perks that come with the job. Good salary, tons of out of town trips. You know what I mean Ben, don't you. Going to Japan and finding out how to clear snow. Spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on this downtown utilador. Money that was spent without the tax payers knowing about. You know the one I'm talking about. All that work they've done (doing) on the alley of George street. And so on and so on so and so on. Its time to stop wasting tax dollars. So Ben, what are you waiting for.

Like you say, this is one mans' opinion.
What? Isn't Eugene running this year?
Anybody but that attention starved clown Skakun.
Don Zuroski all the way....although I sure would like to see Ben in the position to shake up council and release Prince George from the strangle hold it's been in for years!!!! We seriously need new blood running this City...on many different levels...not just Council. As for Terry Weninger??? As I said...we need a blood tranfusion....and Weninger is NOT a compatible blood type.
