The Prince George Emergency team will meet this morning to assess the Fraser Flood situation.
Last night, residents of Ferrell Street in the Paddlewheel Park area, were ordered to evacuate their homes. Although the City has provided social assistance to those who needed a place to stay, City Hall says only one resident asked for such assistance.
The water continues to rise, this morning it was at 9.626 metres. More showers, possibly thundershowers today. So while the cool weather may have slowed the melt, the rain is still causing concerns.
The evacuation alert area was expanded last night to include Pulpmill road on the north side of the Nechako, Taylor and Bedford Place just south of the Yellowhead Bridge, the strip east of Queensway from 20th to the Simon Fraser Bridge, and the Wiens Road, Lansdowne area.
Meantime in Terrace, a local state of emergency has been dec lared as the Skeena is starting to pool in some people’s yards although there are no evacuation alerts or notices in efffect. City spokesman, Ron Pool, says the declaration is one of the tools needed to be able to issue evacuation notices, or to barricade roads and control access to flood areas.
In the Regional District of Kitimat Stikine, evacuation notices have been issued for the residents of Usk, New and Old Remo, Dutch Valley, Braun's Island, and Queensway.
