City crews fill gabion dikes along River Road

River Road is now closed to traffic as the Nechako backs  up because of the pressure from the Fraser River.

The Fraser continues to rise and  is now expected to   reach a 10 metre peak  on Thursday.

On River road, crews are filling gabion dikes to  further protect the  area.  The boat launch  and  Cottonwood Island park are under water.

Prince George City Clerk Don Schaffer says at this point there have been no further evacuation  orders issued.

Last night  people on Ferrell Street were orderd from their homes.  All but one had  some place to stay.  The city  has a registry for those needing assistance.

While the cool temperatures have helped  ease the threat of flood,  rain in the McBride area has   added  more water to the Fraser.
