Park Remains Closed, Staff to Assess Damage
By 250 News
The trails heading east of the boat launch at Cottonwood Island park looked every bit as able to launch a boat as the actual launch! This photo was taken at the height of the Fraser flooding, however, there are still pockets of water in the park.
City of Prince George Parks Staff will be out today to assess the damage in Cottonwood Island Park.
Although the Fraser River has receded, the Nechako River is still high, and there is a great deal of debris in the park.
City Staff say the park will remain closed until the debris has been removed.
The City of Prince George will be filing applications to the Province to be reimbursed for damages cause by the recent flooding, and for the costs involved in efforts to mitigate damage as well as provide extra services during the flooding of the Fraser.
