There is another meeting set for today in Vanderhoof as officials expect to get an update on the rising levels of the Nechako River. The flow levels are expected to peak tomorrow at about 700 cubic metres per second. That rate is in the same range as was experienced in the most recent flood.
Opinion250 readers have been keeping everyone up to date with submitted photos of the latest water levels. You will notice the bridge on West Douglas road that was visible just a little over a week ago (photo on left) is now completely submerged (photo on right) and marked with buoys so boaters know it is there!
The District has also set up gabion dikes along the east side of Vanderhoof:
Officials will have more information later today on the peak flow expected.
Homes and buildings in low lying areas near the river are already experiencing flooding due to rising levels of ground water.
