Yesterday did not go according to plan, but PGRH plant staff still hope to have the hospital off its back-up generators and back ’on the grid’ by tomorrow.
The switch-over was scheduled to begin at 4am yesterday morning - a time when the hospital was expected to be relatively quiet, but middle-of-the-night emergency surgeries delayed the start until later in the morning and altered the day’s schedule. (click here for full details)
The hospital has been running on its back-up generators (shown in photo at left, provided NH) since a mechanical failure in the electrical system that occurred back on June 7th.
Northern Health Director of Communications, Mark Karjaluoto, says, despite yesterday’s minor setbacks and barring any further problems, the goal remains to have the hospital returned to its regular power supply by tomorrow.
