CN Rail's Regional Manager of Public and Government Affairs, Kelli Svendsen says 13-cars of an 86-car freight train derailed 20-kilometres east of Prince George, near the Willow River bridge just before 5pm last night.

Svendsen says there were no injuries, no dangerous goods were involved and there was no environmental situation as a result of the derailment - 11 of the cars off the tracks were carrying wood products and 2 were carrying scrap metal.

Svendsen says while the derailment occurred prior to the bridge, in stopping the train, some of the cars came to rest on the bridge.

The route between Edmonton and Prince Rupert is closed as a result.  Crews are investigating the cause of the derailment and working to clear the track by 5pm tonight.

Here we go again....
"no one hurt" and "no environmental damage" so all is ok and the government will ingore it.
Just about time for Campbell to start earning his raise!
Will it be years before we know the cause?
When is the government going to stop falling for this "no environmental damage" "no injuries" explanation and start looking at why these trains keep derailing..
I hate to think that we are going to have to have something major happen before they wake up.
I know of no other business that can have this amount of accidents and not be investigated.
I doubt that a trucker going off raod numerous times could get away with saying no harm no foul
IS SOMEONE GETTING PAID OFF??????
