Residents Sought For Vanderhoof Assisted Living Facility
By 250 News
With renovations underway at Vanderhoof's former long-term care facility to convert it into 14 assisted living units, Northern Health is now seeking residents for what was once Omenica Lodge.
The Independent Living BC (ILBC) program is developing the new units with funding from BC Housing and Northern
Health. The Nechako Valley Community Services Society will run the units.
The new specialized apartments will house seniors and people with disabilities who need some support to remain independent in the community. Northern Health long-term care case managers are now offering assessments for potential residents - seniors and people with disabilities.
"Assisted living is a middle ground for seniors or people who need some extra help. These units are for people who can direct their own care, but need specialized housing, meals and health supports to keep their independence," said Heather Ferris, clinical leader for Northern Health’s Home and Community Care program in Vanderhoof.
People who want to find out about a care assessment for themselves or a family member can call:
- Randene Wejr or Linda Aspinall, Nechako Valley Community Services Society: (250) 567-9205
- Marci Whitford, Northern Health 567-2211 ext 22
